A small bakery is out thousands of dollars after a check for a 1,000-cupcake order turned out to be a scam

  • Check fraud has surged 385% nationwide since the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the US Treasury.
  • The bakery owner, Loria Stern, bought all the ingredients before realizing she was a victim.

Checks now-a-days are just not worth the risk! Besides the potential for fraud – people who insist on paying by check will have a sinister reason why they can’t pay another way.
